The Audition Process

There are THREE stages of auditions to gain entry to the TDP program.

Stage One

Send in an application signed by your principal, contact teacher and parents by the due date (usually March/April each year). This audition is open to all NSW Public High School students in years 10, 11 and 12 who are seeking a career as a singer and/or songwriter in the Entertainment industry. Nomination forms can be downloaded from Term 1 of each calendar year.

Stage Two

Approved nominees must prepare TWO contrasting songs for a LIVE Audition in the April School Holidays. These auditions are held in Sydney, in front of a panel including TDP Artistic Director and consultants.

Stage Three

Successful applicants from the live auditions are invited to a two-day audition workshop with a panel of industry professionals in July. Around 30 students are selected to enter Phase One of the Core Program.

Students face new auditions at the start of Phase Two and Phase Three of the Core Program. Around 10 students will graduate at the end of the 12 months. The major sponsor of TDP is the NSW Department of Education.  Students are encouraged to remain actively involved in performing arts within their school and the wider community. As this program is endorsed and supported by the Department of Education, students have permission to be absent from school on workshop days. TDP students are often featured artists of the NSW Schools Spectacular during their time in TDP.
