Vision

Within an artistic and professional environment, TDP inspires, nurtures and expands the creative talent of select young musicians, singers and songwriters and develops in them the artistry, optimism and resilience required to pursue a professional career in the performing arts.

Founded by Jack Neary AM OBE, Mary Lopez AM and Bruce Harris, TDP initially had its home in the Sydney Entertainment Centre where the NSW Schools Spectacular had been held since 1984.

In 1991, the Talent Development Project was created to professionally develop the talent of the Spectacular’s principal performers. TDP continues to be a highly successful creative development program for select musical talent from NSW Government high schools. This success is based on TDP’s direct access to the music and entertainment industry.

TDP remains a full time supporter of its graduates, providing opportunities, scholarships, grants, and an extensive international network of professional musicians.

TDP now operates out of Waterloo Studios, offering students access to state of the art facilities including a TV and production sound stage and performance space, a recording studio and numerous rehearsal and writing rooms.

TDP celebrated its 30th Anniversary in 2021.
