The 2020 ARIA Award nominations have been announced and we are so excited to have TDP graduates in the mix! Congratulations to Sam Fischer who was nominated for Song Of The Year and to The McClymonts and Travis Collins who were both nominated for Best Country Album!

Very exciting opportunity for 2009 TDP graduate Nicholas Gentile who was announced as the first ever Artist In Residence for the Civic Centre in Cowra.

During his residency, he will be composing new music for World Peace Day 2020, which will be launched on Monday 21st September, in an exciting exclusive that will sound out across the community of Cowra.

Huge congratulations to 2004 TDP graduate Morgan Evans who alongside fellow writers Chris DeSefano and Joshua Kerr, won Most Performed Country Work at the 2020 APRA AMCOS Music Awards!

Wonderful news from TDP graduates Rob McDougall and Matilda Moran who have been cast in the 2020 Opera Australia production of The Secret Garden.

This show will be playing from 2nd August at Sydney Lyric Theatre.

Big congratulations to 2010 graduate Melanie Dyer who recently claimed the #1 spot on the Country Music Channel with her song Memphis T-Shirt! Melanie also played to a SOLD OUT crowd for her first performance at Sydney’s Oxford Art Factory on 20th February, supported by fellow graduate Chris Rose.

50 MILLION! Big news from 2015 TDP graduate Sam Fischer who reached over 50 millions streams for his song ‘This City’.

HUGE congratulations to 2017 TDP graduate Angel Tairua who received the award for Next Big Thing at the FBi Radio SMAC Awards!

2017 TDP graduate Fergus James hit a grand slam for his first gig of 2020, opening for Ziggy Alberts at the Australian Open!


The 48th Annual Golden Guitar Awards were held on 25th January at the Tamworth Country Music Festival with TDP graduates Felicity Urquhart and Morgan Evans big winners on the night each taking home the respected Female and Male Artist Of The Year!

Along with this award, Felicity took home an incredible five Golden Guitars for 2020 Toyota Album Of The Year, APRA AMCOS Song Of The Year, Apple Music Single Of The Year, Traditional Country Album Of The Year and Heritage Song Of The Year. 

Morgan also won the Golden Guitar for Contemporary Country Album Of The Year.

An amazing line up of TDP graduates also performed and presented awards on the evening including Felicity Urquhart, Brad Cox, Travis Collins, Sam & Molli McClymont and Max Jackson.

Very exciting news from the 2020 Tamworth Country Music Festival with 2010 graduate Melanie Dyer announcing she is one of the hosts for the annual TCMF Golden Guitar Awards, alongside Sinead Burgess and Caitlyn Shadbolt!

Graduate Felicity Urquhart also making the very special announcement that she will be performing live at the awards that will take place on Saturday 25th January! Felicity is up for an incredible 8 awards on the night including Toyota Album Of The Year, Female Artist Of The Year and CMC Video Of The Year!

Huge congratulations to 2004 TDP graduate Morgan Evans who won his first ARIA Award for Country Album Of The Year with ‘Things That We Drink To’ at the 2019 awards at Star City in Sydney!

Another big congratulations also to Human Nature, who were inducted into the ARIA Hall Of Fame at the awards, the same day as their 30 year anniversary! An incredible honour and amazing achievement!

The 2019 ARIA Award nominations were released with three TDP graduates being recognised in three categories.

The TDP are very proud to announce 2012 graduate Brad Cox as the recipient of the 2019 TDP AEG Ogden Nashville Scholarship.  

Brad will head to Nashville later in the year to write, record and perform. 

Big congratulations to 2012 TDP graduate Imogen Clark who has won an APRA AMCOS Professional Development Award!

Imogen will receive a $15,000 grant to go towards her music as well as M50x Studio Headphones (Limited Edition Red) and an Aon Wallet’ insurance package including Public Liability, Equipment and Personal Accident cover valued at $3,000 over 3 years.

So well deserved!

HUGE ANNOUNCEMENT! 2012 TDP graduate Brad Cox has signed an exclusive worldwide recording deal with Sony Music Entertainment Australia! 
Denis Handlin AO, Chairman and CEO of Sony Music Entertainment Australia and New Zealand and President of Asia quoted “We are very excited to welcome Brad Cox to the Sony Music family. Brad is one of Australia’s brightest new country music stars and we have significant local and international ambitions for him as we work to break him to a global audience”.

We can’t wait to see what the future has in store for Brad as he begins this very exciting chapter in his musical journey!

Huge congratulations to 2000 TDP graduate Diana Rouvas who is the winner of Channel 9’s The Voice for 2019!

Diana’s prizes include $100,000 and an EMI recording contract.

Very exciting news for 2017 graduate Fergus James who was announced as one of the winners of the Triple J Unearthed competition, securing him a spot in the lineup to play on the main stage at this years’ Splendour In The Grass!

It was a pleasure once again to be involved with Music: Count Us In for the recording of their 2019 song!

2019 graduates Arlo Sim and Rosslyn Cuerden were chosen as lead vocalists for the track that was recorded at the Sony Music Australia Studios in Sydney. Arlo and Rosslyn worked alongside students from The Arts Unit, all under the mentorship of TDP graduate John Foreman OAM.

The 2019 song is called ‘We Are’ – be sure to have a listen below!


Very exciting news from 2012 graduate Imogen Clark who announced that she will be supporting the incredible Clare Bowen (leading actress on CMT series Nashville) on her upcoming American album release tour!

Imogen previously supported Clare on her Australian tour last year and this will also be Imogen’s first time touring the Unites States!

2004 TDP graduate Morgan Evans will be bringing his World Tour to Australia and New Zealand in 2019. Morgan will be playing shows throughout October in Sydney, Perth, Adelaide, Melbourne, Brisbane and Auckland.

Very exciting news for 2015 TDP graduate Sam Fischer, who recently announced he will be going on tour around the USA with singer-songwriter Lewis Capaldi!  Sam will be playing shows throughout June in Washington, New York, Seattle, Portland, San Francisco and Los Angeles.

Sam has also shared that he wrote and performed the song ‘It’s Not Over‘ for the new upcoming film Brian Banks. Sam created this song alongside Mike Sabath and Gizzle. Brian Banks will be released in August.

Congratulations to 2012 TDP graduate Joe Mungovan who is about to kick off his ‘Lost Myself’ European Tour in Berlin!

He will be playing shows for the rest of April and into May in Munich, Paris, Nice and so many more beautiful places.

The APRA Music Awards celebrate the excellence in contemporary music, honouring writers and publishers that have achieved outstanding success in their fields

The nominees for the 2019 awards have been released and we are so excited to have four TDP graduates in the running!

Congratulations to Angus and Julia Stone for Blues & Roots Work Of The Year with Chateau, Gang of Youths for Rock Work Of The Year with The Deepest Sighs, The Frankest Shadows and finally to Morgan Evans who has been nominated twice in Country Work Of The Year with Day Drunk and I Do.

The awards will be held on 30th April in Melbourne.

Congratulations to 2003 TDP Graduate and singer-songwriter William Crighton, who has announced he’s signed two big International deals ahead of his upcoming Australian Headline Tour.

William has signed a Publishing contract with the UK’s Just Isn’t Music – the publishing arm of the famous label Ninja Tune, as well as a deal with UK Booking agency ATC Live, who represent the likes of Nick Cave, Mac DeMarco and Julia Jacklin.

In April/May this year, William will be embarking on his first headline solo tour visiting venues in NSW, ACT, VIC and QLD.

A massive congratulations to 1992 TDP graduates Human Nature, who on Australia Day were each awarded the Medal of the Order of Australia!

The band will be celebrating their 30th year in the music industry this year as they are recognised for their outstanding career successes including the 2018 release of their 13th studio album Romance Of The Jukebox and a 9 month residency in Las Vegas that will wrap up in March this year.

Congratulations from all of us at TDP! So well deserved.

HUGE Announcement from 2012 TDP graduate Imogen Clark who has revealed that she will be supporting the one and only Shania Twain at Hope Estates in the Hunter Valley on Saturday 8th December!

Shania is the highest selling female artist in country music history!

What a way to finish the year and so well deserved. Congratulations Imogen!

In the midst of her own Australian tour for her latest album ‘Collide’, 2012 graduate Imogen Clark has just made the exciting announcement that she will be supporting singer-songwriter and Nashville actress Clare Bowen on her upcoming Australian Tour, alongside Clare’s brother Timothy James Bowen!

With shows in Perth, Wollongong, Sydney, Brisbane and Melbourne, the tour kicks off late September and they will be hitting the stage in Sydney on 2nd October at Enmore Theatre.

A dream come true! Congratulations to 2004 graduate Morgan Evans who has officially scored his first #1 U.S chart topper with his debut single Kiss Somebody!

Co-written by Morgan, Chris DeStefano and Josh Osborne, Kiss Somebody was released in July 2017 as Evans’ first US single and has since earned more than 52 million streams and over 1 million views on YouTube.

Such an amazing achievement and we can’t wait to see what comes next!

Huge congratulations to 2013 graduate Benny Nelson who just recently launched his dream project COWSOUND, a contemporary music festival that will make it’s debut in QLD on 15th September 2019.

COWSOUND will be held in Muniganeen, 25 minutes outside Toowoomba and is a festival where punters will be able to camp out overnight while listening to a fantastic line up of bands and performers including Benny and 2014 TDP graduate Jack Rayne.

Only 300 tickets are available and can be purchased through Event Brite.


After winning the 2018 Toyota Star Maker Award at the Tamworth Country Music Festival in January this year, 2012 graduate Brad Cox is now out on the road on his 5 month, Debut Album Tour.

With the first show held in his home town of Jindabyne, Brad has been travelling across Australia playing to audiences in NSW, VIC, NT, QLD and the ACT.

Also supporting Brad on his tour is 2014 TDP graduate Jack Rayne who is opening selected shows throughout August and September.

After 3 weeks touring Europe and the UK, 2012 graduate Imogen Clark is back and ready play for fans all over Australia on her upcoming Late Night Girl Tour!  She will be playing 25 dates across Tasmania, Queensland, Victoria and South Australia with shows kicking off on Friday 17th August.

Huge congratulations to 2009 TDP Graduate and Gang of Youths frontman David Le’aupepe who has been announced as the 2nd and 3rd place winner in the Vanda & Young Songwriting Competition for his songs ‘Let Me Down Easy’ and ‘The Heart is a Muscle’ – songs which both feature on the bands 2017 album release Go Further In Lightness.

As a prize David will receive $10,000 thanks to AMPAL (Australasian Music Publishers Association) and $5,000 thanks to media sponsor Seventh Street Media.

The Vanda and Young Songwriting Competition is one of the world’s most prestigious songwriting competitions.  It aims to support talented songwriters all over the world whilst raising much needed funds for not-for-profit organisation Nordoff-Robbins Music Therapy Australia.  Previous winners include Megan Washington, Kimbra and The Preatures.


2017 TDP Graduate Fergus James recently supported International superstar Ed Sheehan on his Australian stadium tour playing all shows in Perth, Adelaide and Brisbane.  Fergus played to over 150,000 people in record breaking sold out crowds in all three states.

Fergus has also recently released his Debut Single Golden Age.


Huge congratulations to the TDP graduates who took home top honours at the 2018 CMC Awards earlier this year.

2010 graduate Christie Lamb won Female Artist of the Year,  2002 Graduate Travis Collins took home Male Artist of the Year and TDP graduate sisters from 1998, 2002 & 2004 The McClymonts were presented with Group or Duo of the Year!

So much incredible talent and such a wonderful achievement for all!



Two Australians will be competing in this year’s Eurovision Song Contest after NSW-born Anja Nissen beat nine other finalists for the right to represent Denmark.

After narrowly finishing second last year in Denmark’s Eurovision selection competition – the Danish Melodi Grand Prix – Nissen triumphed on Saturday in the city of Herning with her song ‘Where I Am’.

Anja, 21, brought up on her Danish parents’ farm west of Sydney, won ‘The Voice’ on Australian TV in 2014 when she was coached by Black Eyed Peas star

Anja has a very close association with the Talent Development Project since she was a young high school student and graduated from the project in 2012. We wish her love and success over the coming months.

Lincoln Hall, 2009 TDP Graduate was a finalist in this years Tropfest.

Tropfest is Australia’s most prestigious short film festival and one of our most iconic cultural events. It is also the largest short film festival in the world. At home, Tropfest is recognised for its enormous contribution to the development of the Australian film industry by providing unique platforms for talented filmmakers through its events and initiatives, and new and expanded audiences for their work.

Lincoln wrote, directed and produced “Why Would I Lie?”, starring Louis Seguier Capdevila and Natalie Bassingthwaighte, who won Best Actress Award for her role in the film. This award was donated by Nicole Kidman. I’m sure we are all very proud of Lincoln’s spectacular achievement!
