John is one of Australia’s foremost TV Musical Directors, widely acclaimed as a composer, author and record producer.


Human Nature - 1992 Graduates


Human Nature have begun a 12-month residency performing at the Imperial Palace Hotel, Las Vegas. Their latest album, A Symphony of Hits, encapsulates some of their past hits and some new tracks recorded with a 75-piece symphony orchestra.

Darren Coggan - 1992 Graduate


Darren’s album War Stories included the song Too Dark for the Light Horse, which won him his second Golden Guitar Award as Heritage Song of the Year at the 2009 Tamworth Country Music Festival. Darren is currently starring in “Peace Train - the Cat Stevens Story” in Adelaide on the 5th December and the Sydney Opera House on the 2nd January 2010.

Drew McAlister - 1992 Graduate

Drew’s new video Somewhere Somehow was released in 2009 


Sarah Hyland – 1992 Graduate

Currently returned from a six-month tour of New York Jazz venues.

Nadia Ackerman - 1993 Graduate


Now firmly established on New York’s jazz scene, Nadia’s latest gig was at The Living Room in New York City. 



Felicity Urquhart - 1993 Graduate

Felicity has released a new album, Landing Lights, produced in Nashville with the title track co-written by TDP graduate Jedd Hughes. She is a regular host on Channel 7’s Sydney Weekender program. 



Amanda Harrison - 1993 Graduate

Amanda’s performance in the lead role of the Australian production of Wicked received rave reviews, adding to her impressive list of music theatre achievements in both Australia and the West End. 



David Harris - 1994 Graduate

David most recently starred in Gutenberg, the Musical. His role of Chris in the Cameron Mackintosh production of Miss Saigon won him both a Helpmann and a Sydney Theatre Award. Anita Spring – 1994 Graduate

 Anita is making waves in the jazz music scene with her single “Blink/Stay A Little Longer” reaching the Australian Recording Industry Association National Top 40

Emma Pask - 1995 Graduate

 

 Emma continues to tour to acclaim with the James Morrison Band throughout Australia and overseas, including a Louis Armstrong Tribute at Sydney Opera House

 Gavin Lockley – 1996 Graduate

Gavin’s new work, ‘Ballads of the Bush’, premiered on 13 October 2009 at the City Recital Hall, Sydney in aid of the Royal Flying Doctor Service.

Simon Kearns – 1996 Graduate

Simon wrote the song for the Sydney 2000 Paralympics and made into a video clip with Hollywood A-list celebrities singing it with Simon. He continues to work on music projects and manages solo artists.

Byron Watson - 1997 Graduate

Byron appeared in concert in Sydney with Simon Kenway at the piano and was broadcast on ABC Classic FM. Other 2009 engagements include Opera Australia’s production of A Little Night Music and Pacific Opera’s production of La Sonnambula.

Trevor Ashley - 1997 Graduate

Trevor hosts Showqueen Sundays, Sydney’s most successful long running cabaret night.

Anthony Snape - 1997 Graduate

Anthony performed in the 2009 South by Southwest Music Festival in Austin, Texas. He was a finalist in the 2009 International Songwriting Competition and took out the grand prize in the Songdoor competition. His song Walking was aired on Australia’s Biggest Loser.

Nathan Foley - 1997 Graduate

 After 10 years with award winning children’s TV show Hi-5, Nathan has branched out into a solo career. He is currently the alternate lead to three of the main roles in the current production of Mamma Mia at Star City. After the Sydney season, he will tour Australia with the show for 12 months.

The McClymonts - Brooke 1998, Samantha 2002 and Molly 2004 Graduates


Recently in Nashville to work on their new album, the girls also performed during America’s largest country music festivals. In January 2009 they won their third consecutive Golden Guitar Award for Best Group or Duo.

Nicole Brophy - 1998 Graduate


Award winning singer-songwriter Nicole (ex Dirty Lucy) is currently touring as guitarist and singer with the Kate MillerHeidke Band.

Josh Boots – 1998 Graduate

Josh is recording his own songs with ex-Savage Garden guitarist/songwriter, Daniel Jones. He was signed to Pavilion Musik, a new indie label produced by surf brand Quicksilver, and is among the line-up of artists on the Kelly Slater DVD “Letting Go”, as well as the new Roxy DVD “Shimmer”.

Jedd Hughes - 1999 Graduate

US-based Jedd toured with country music sensation Dierks Bentley and performed at Bonnaroo, one of the biggest music festivals in the States. He co-wrote the title track on Felicity Urquhart’s new album Landing Lights. 



Shaun Rennie - 1999 Graduate, Erin James - 2002 Graduate and Brent Dolahenty - 2003 Graduate

During 2009 Shaun, Erin and Brent have toured Asia in Cats for the Really Useful Company and return to Australia for seasons in Brisbane and Adelaide.

Tahlia and Ingrid Racz – 1999 Graduates

Tahlia and Ingrid teamed with Karen-Anne Waters in 2008 to write and perform, and in January 2009 won the Tamworth Country Music Festival’s Buskers’ Challenge. Their debut album, “Nothing Borrowed”, is due for imminent release.

Paulini Curuenavuli - 2000 Graduate


Paulini performed in the Ladies of Jazz tour with Christine Anu, Grace Knight and Monica Trapaga. Her new album will be released later this year. 



Belinda Wollaston - 2001 Graduate 


Belinda was cast in one of the female leads in the international production of the musical Jekyll & Hyde. The show will tour Asia and open in Australia later this year. 



Angus and Julia Stone - 2002 & 2005 Graduates


International recognition keeps coming for Angus and Julia with their album A Book Like This cracking the US Top 100 charts and a headline tour of the US and Canada 



Travis Collins - 2002 Graduate

Travis performed in the Global Showcase at the CMA Festival in Nashville attended by 200,000 country music fans from around the world. The single Yeah She Does, from his album No Boundaries, went to #1 on the Country Music Channel Top 30 Countdown 



Chasing Bailey - 2003 Graduates


Chantal, Crystal, Kurt and Lindsay are writing material for their second album, planned for release early next year. 



Clint Crighton - 2003 Graduate


Clint supported The Counting Crows on their Australian tour and performed at the Byron Bay Blues Festival alongside such names as Missy Higgins, Ben Harper and Blues Travelers. 



Lucy Maunder - 2004 Graduate

Lucy is also one of the female leads in the international production of the musical Jekyll & Hyde. The show will tour Asia and open in Australia later this year.

Tim (TJ) Power - 2004 Graduate


Since graduating from the acting course at WAAPA, Tim has performed with distinction in Perth theatre and shot a feature film, Wasted on the Young. He is returning to Sydney to release his EP New Wheel later this year 



Sabrina Batshon - 2004 TDP Graduate


Sabrina made it to the Top 10 in the 2009 series of Australian Idol 



Solver - 2004 Graduates

Solver released their latest EP ‘Too Young to Worry’ in October 2009 



Brendon Boney - 2005 Graduate and Tessa Nuku - 2006 Graduate


Microwave Jenny: Brendon and Tessa (folk/jazz duo Microwave Jenny) won Triple J.s Unearthed Artist award and performed at the Dreaming Festival in Brisbane in June 2009 and was featured on the TV series ‘The Apprentice’.


Roshani Priddis - 2005 Graduate


Roshani is supported Christine Anu, Wendy Matthews and The Black Sorrows on tour during September and October 2009 



Kirsty Lee-Akers - 2006 Graduate

Kirsty performed in Nashville at the prestigious CMA Country Festival June 2009 



Tiaan Williams - 2006 Graduate


Tiaan was selected by Foxtel to perform the theme song for the 2009 series of Australia’s Next Top Model with a worldwide digital release in April 2009 



Jack Carty – 2006 Graduate

 Jack released his new record ‘Wine & Consequence’ on the 31st October and was placed on the top songwriters list on itunes after 2 days.

Jess Pollard - 2007 Graduate


Jess was recently a finalist in the James Morrison Generations in Jazz, performing with James’ band at Mount Gambier. She was runner-up in the PJ Gallagher Singer of the Year competition.

Peter McWhirter - 2007 Graduate


Peter won the Telstra Road to Tamworth award in 2009. His debut album will be released in March 2010.

 Jennifer van Heeckeren (formerly Fitzgerald) – 2007 Graduate

Jennifer has acted in plays for Newtown Theatre and played the lead in two feature films, currently in edit. Her stage sword fighting led to a part in Narnia, the third film, and she belongs to the Sydney Salsa Committee.
