ASCAP Foundation/Disney Musical Theatre Workshop (Australia)

The ASCAP Foundation and Walt Disney Feature Animation have formed The ASCAP Foundation Disney Musical Theatre Workshop. Directed by Academy Award-winning composer/lyricist Stephen Schwartz (WickedPrince of EgyptGodspellPippinPocahontasThe Hunchback of Notre Dame) the workshop is part of an ongoing series of workshops sponsored by The ASCAP Foundation to nurture new American musicals.

The opportunity for workshops to be held in Australia from 2010 has been created so that Australian musical theatre writers benefit from an opportunity to receive expert advice and critical feedback provided by Stephen Schwartz and a panel of experts.

It is hoped that this developmental initiative will greatly enhance Australian musical theatre composers, lyricist and book writer’s awareness of opportunities for the further development of their creative work through networking with producers, creative production personnel and performers.
