Professional Teachers Council Award goes to TDP Graduate Scott Ryan!

Congratulations to TDP Graduate Scott Ryan was awarded this month the 2016 Professional Teachers Council (PTC) Outstanding Professional Service Award for his work with music education for students and teachers in regional areas of NSW and his contribution to the Australian Band and Orchestra Directors Association. Scott Ryan was presented the award by Professor, Dame Marie Bashir, in the presence of the Minister for Education, Chair of the Board of Studies and the Director-General of The Department of Education.

Scott Ryan wrote to Mary Lopez TDP’s Entertainment and Talent Director thanking Mary for her guiding force and inspiration in his development as a teacher, conductor and contributor to music education in Australia. He wrote “I think back to my days in TDP when you took a massive gamble on me; I can only say that I am eternally grateful that you took a chance. I would not be where I am without you. I’m certain now that I was not destined to be a singer. What I know, is that, with your guidance, mentorship and inspiration I became a conductor and music educator. I wanted to follow in your footsteps. Thank you! I can’t begin to thank you enough for your support, guidance and friendship. You are an inspiration to me. I can honestly say that I would not be where I am without you. You have been and continue to be a dear friend, mentor and idol in my life.”

A HUGE congratulations on this extraordinary achievement. An award such as this which comes from PTC, a very prestigious Organisation, is gold. Scott Ryan is truly recognised as a great musician and educator.
